You can guarantee that something will get left behind when packing for a vacation. So long as it’s not someone’s passport (some of us have done this before), you won’t entirely ruin your trip, but it can still be an inconvenience in most cases. To help keep your vacation as stress-free as possible, here is a checklist of some of the items that commonly get forgotten so that you can make sure to pack them.

11 Items Everyone Forgets to Pack on Vacation

Let's face it, there is always something forgotten when going on vacation. To help keep your vacation as stress-free as possible, here is a checklist of some of the items that commonly get forgotten so that you can make sure to pack them. #vacation #travel #traveltips

Sunscreen

If you’ve got a fair complexion, you’ll likely need to use sunscreen. In some countries, you may not always be able to find the correct factor, so it’s worth packing this beforehand.

Sunglasses

A lot of people also forget to bring sunglasses. Forgetting these can be particularly frustrating if you’ve got a nice designer pair of shades back home. Pack this with your sunscreen if you’re going away somewhere potentially sunny.

Toothbrush/toothpaste

Many people forget their toothbrushes or toothpaste. Forgetting these usually isn’t the end of the world – a toothbrush and toothpaste are easy to replace – however it can still be inconvenient.

Toilet roll

You never know when you’ll get caught short.

Swimwear

A lot of people also forget swimwear. Forgetting your swimsuit can be annoying if you’ve spent ages trying on swimsuits back home to find the perfect one. Remember also to buy swimwear for the kids – if they haven’t been swimming for a while, you may need to look for girls swimwear. Towels are also worth bringing (most accommodation will supply these, but you can sometimes never be sure). To find your perfect suit, check out the best places to buy swimsuits.

Warm clothing

You might not think you’ll need a jacket when traveling somewhere warm, but activities such as a mountain trip could require it. Some places also get much colder after dark. Warm clothing could also come in handy for the return journey if it’s cold when you arrive home.

Phone charger

Many people charge their phone up the night before and then leave the charger on the wall. Forgetting this can leave you with nothing to charge your phone with, and you may have to search far and wide for a charger. Try to make a mental note not to forget this.

Plug adaptors

If you’re going abroad, they may have different plug sockets. Without a plug adaptor, you may not be able to use any electronic devices or chargers. You’ll want to buy these beforehand – adaptors aren’t always easy to come by.

Ziplock bags

Ziploc bags can help to separate items in your luggage. They could come in handy for storing sunscreen, helping to prevent a leak from ruining all your clothes. They can also help divide up loose items. Finally, they can come in use for separating dirty laundry.

Medication

This one is potentially crucial. If you’re on prescription medicine of any kind, make sure that this is one of the first things you pack (unless you need to take it the morning before). Some handy drugs like painkillers, travel sickness pills, and anti-diarrheal medicines could also be helpful.

Cash

Forgetting to bring cash is more common now than ever, with debit cards being the way to go. But having cash on hand is extremely important when traveling. Many small shops do not take cards due to high service fees.
