Being a parent is compiled of so many aspects. There are so many firsts and big moments you look forward to with your children. One of them most parents DO NOT LOOK FORWARD to is sex education.
Most parents find this conversation completely uncomfortable! Let’s face it, my generation really didn’t get much in talks as our parent’s generation DID NOT TALK about sex education at all!
When I was a kid I remember my mom being horrified having to go over my science homework with me. It was on the reproductive cycle of plants….. Yup.
So when my mom became pregnant with my baby brother when I eleven, she literally took me up to a course held by nurses at the local hospital. Wow, that was hilariously embarrassing but very informative lol.
Talking to Young Children about Sex
I still remember the very first question our oldest asked me. Sitting at the counter eating dinner, she randomly asked “what is sex?” Yup, I about spit my food out of my mouth! We’ve always been very open and honest, but here I was stunned and had no clue what to say!
There really wasn’t any tools online that I could have used to help me talk to her about those questions. I just had to speak my mind and hope (and pray!) that I didn’t mess up the talk! Thankfully since then, the AMAZE Parent Playlist has come out and it is a TOTAL GAME CHANGER!

Now that my younger kids are old enough to start asking some really big questions, it’s time for me to be prepared! After watching my first video from the AMAZE Parent Playlist (geared for teaching children ages 4-9), my whole thought process changed!

Kids at this age aren’t asking about sex! They are asking basic questions like “why does the book fall when I let go of it?” They are just asking cause & effect questions!
When you change your mindset about sex education, it makes “The talk” so much easier. I fully admit that the AMAZE Parent Playlist changed even how I personally think about the topic!

If you have kids in the 4-9 age range that will be needing some answers soon, be sure to check out the AMAZE Parent Playlist! Even if your children a few years away, it’s always best to be prepared! Those questions will come. So it’s best not to be like I was the first time around and spitting your food out across the counter top!
