Pour Enough water.

Whether you choose homemade or store-bought, it is crucial to make sure there is enough water in the pot. It is generally estimated that 250 g of pasta requires 2.8 l – 3 l of water. In other words, pasta needs room to swim. Otherwise, they might get gummy. Remember the time you have dumped pasta into a pot of boiling water, and it went silent? It shows that the pot is way too small for the amount you cooked. Or, on the other hand, there is a lack of water in the pot. 

Place in water only after it has boiled.

The higher the water temperature, the better your spaghetti will retain its structure. Also, don’t forget to stir it at least every 30 seconds. This will help it not stick together. It is a much better way than using oil.  While oil does prevent it from sticking together, it causes it to become greasy. When this happens, the pasta cannot absorb the prepared sauce or spices.

Season generously with salt.

To give the pasta saltiness, add salt to the water in which they are boiling. It is recommended to use one tablespoon of salt in 1 liter of water for the perfect taste. To discover the ideal option for you, you will have to experiment. Meanwhile, if you want to season with other spices, they should be sprinkled on after taking them out of the water.

Don’t overcook it.

This is another mistake that often occurs when making pasta. Different types of pasta, due to their shape and thickness, take different times to cook. It is imperative to pay attention to the recommended cooking time by the manufacturer. You may start tasting it a couple of minutes before the end of cooking. If you want real Italian style, cook them al dente – they still need to be a little firm.
